There are no trains to Shirakawa-Go, so you need to travel by bus. Highway buses go to Shirakawa-Go from Takayama, Kanazawa, Toyama, and Nagoya. We recommend booking tickets in advance when traveling by bus. You can buy tickets on the day if there is space available, but you may have to wait a long time during the peak seasons. Also, since the roads can get congested with traffic, please be prepared to have a flexible schedule.
