Shirakawa-Go Easy Travel Guide　SHIRAKAWA going

We expect heavy traffic congestion in Shirakawa-go during the summer holiday season. Please read the following important information before your visit.

• Expected Congestion Period: Saturday, Aug. 25 – Sunday, Aug. 16.
• Designated parking business hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm (last admission at 4:30 pm)

We strongly recommend visiting outside of these dates if possible to ensure a more pleasant trip. 
Please note that parking may be temporarily suspended for safety reasons if the lot becomes full.

To ensure a more comfortable sightseeing experience in Shirakawa-go, we will be conducting large-scale repair work on the village-operated "Seseragi Parking Lot".  During the construction period, traffic congestion is expected within the parking lot and on surrounding roads, and traffic restrictions will be in place. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.  

1. Construction & Restriction Period: 
June 1 to September 30, 2026 (Scheduled)  
*The period may be extended depending on the progress of the construction.  

2. Location: 
Seseragi Parking Lot (Paving and repairs will be carried out on half of the parking lot area) 

3. Important Notes: 

Alternating One-Way Traffic: Traffic will be restricted to alternating one-way direction around the construction zone. To ensure safety, please follow the instructions of the staff on-site, drive slowly, and proceed with caution.
